The Director of the Research Center for Regional Security, SumDU, the Senior Lecturer of the Department of Psychology, Political Science and Socio-Cultural Technologies of the Faculty FPSC, Mykola Nazarov, participated in the range of resilience workshops held in Tallin on November 20-24.

The War in Ukraine became the central topic of this year’s workshop, where they discussed problems of information security and cognitive resilience. The participants were primarily concerned with misinformation, using conspiracy theories as a factor of misinformation and using public and religious organizations to promote hostile narratives.

During the workshop, Mykola Nazarov spoke about «Resilience during the war: the case of Sumy region». In the speech, the researcher united theoretical understanding of national and social resilience with its specific expressions in the case of Sumy community.

«Misinformation and usage of conspiracy theories are the most widespread instruments of influence, which Russia uses against Ukraine and its allies. Therefore, the task of understanding and identifying hostile misinformation and looking for creative approaches for its neutralization is a common task of authorities, researchers, and citizens,» - Mykola Nazarov said.

The International Centre founded the international workshops on resilience for Defence and Security (ICDS, Estonia) in 2016. The aim is to create a network of resilience experts from Ukraine and NATO countries to share experiences and implement cooperative initiatives.
