«Is studying abroad worth it?» – a hot question among today’s youth. But those who have already had the chance to do it know the answer for sure. Students of the Faculty FPSC of SumDU shared their experience of participation in academic mobility programs.
The event, organised by the student’s agency of academic mobility, took place on February 6. During the meeting, everyone who loves travelling and strives to evolve had the chance to get to know more about the academic mobility offered by Sumy State University. Speechmakers of the event were students of the Department of Germanic Philology Yuliia Kozlova, Kristina Dreval and Anastasiia Chasovskykh, who had already studied in Latvia, Germany and Romania.
– Each new journey is like a challenge, an opportunity to test your character and skills, – says Yuliia Kozlova. – Don’t be afraid of abroad! This is the only way really to get to know the world and the people, who you will never meet in your native city.
– Such experience helped me become more independent and open to the world. I met wonderful students from different countries, saw the beauty of Latvia and even learned their language a little! – Shares Kristina Dreval.
– As there were a lot of foreign students, I got to practice my English and German regularly. I also started learning Romanian. During my staying, I was motivated to work on my self-development and become a better version of myself. Moreover, I made friends and realised that sometimes it is easier to talk to foreigners than to people from your own country, – shared her impressions Anastasiia Chasovskykh.
Not only were the students able to attend classes during their studying, but they were also allowed to do sports, go on excursions, to parties and cinemas. Nothing could spoil their experience of being abroad – neither the problems with transport nor the national languages, which they did not know. Girls found new friends, improved their language skills and learned about other cultures.
SumDU provides opportunities to become a participant of such international grant programmes like TEMPUS, ERASMUS MUNDUS, ERASMUS+, USAID, VISERGRAND FUND and BRITISH COUNCIL. The experience of FPSC students proves that studying abroad is possible and accessible. All you need is desire, persistence and self-belief.
