Lecturers and students of the Department of Germanic Philology of the Faculty FPSC, SumDU, took part in a virtual trip to the Directorate-General for Translation (DGT). The event took place on October 12, 2022, due to the invitation of Kaunas University of Technology (Lithuania). 

About 50 philology students, Senior Lecturer of the Department of Germanic Philology, Vice Dean for International Relations of the Faculty FPSC, SumDU, Alla Krasulia, Associate Professor Olesia Yehorova, Senior Lecturer Iryna Ushchapovska participated in the trip.

The Directorate General for Translation, located in Brussels, provides translations of written texts into the twenty-four official languages of the European Union. With an annual release of around 1,5 million pages, it is the largest translation service in the world with about 1750 linguists.

During the virtual trip, the participants learned about the Directorate General's work and got acquainted with its employees.

- I was greatly interested in attending such a meeting. I am very grateful to the translators who shared their experiences, told us about some nuances that appear during translation and answered all the questions we were interested in. We are waiting for further meetings of such kind, - said the participant of the trip, student Mariia Korshun.

- It is interesting to learn more about the work of a translator and the advantages and disadvantages of this profession. I think the meeting was beneficial for each of us - a student, Karina Vinnikova, shared her impressions.

- Judging by the participants' comments, the event benefited future translators. We are grateful to Doc. dr. I Assoc. prof. dr.
