On the initiative of the Sumy Regional Organization of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine, the Sumy Press Club, and lecturers of the Faculty of Foreign Philology and Social Communications of SumDU, the "Greetings from Ukraine" campaign started this summer. Its goal was to create Ukrainian informational corners in ten schools in Germany. Local artists, writers, folk-art masters, and designers joined the initiative.

The "Märkische Allgemeine Zeitung" newspaper tells about one of those corners created in the city of Blankensee in the article "Blankensee: Ukrainian corner at school relieves children of homesickness" ["Blankensee: Ukraine-Ecke an der Schule lindert Heimweh der Kinder"]. Mainly, it tells about the fact that a Ukrainian corner under the slogan "Greetings from Ukraine" has been established in the hall of the Blankenze elementary school. They represent traditional embroidered shirts, books by Ukrainian authors, information brochures in the native language, drawings, and handmade products.

During the interview with the newspaper, the school director, Franka Rechlin-Grul, noted that she immediately supported this initiative. And in the first minutes of the corner opening, a lively discussion arose among Ukrainian schoolchildren, and memories about the native Motherland flew around.

The newspaper publication also notes that in addition to the school in Blankensee, nine more schools from Dresden, Stuttgart, and Berlin are participating in this initiative.

In Sumy, this project is implemented by associate professors of the Department of Journalism and Philology of the Faculty FPSC, SumDU: Alla Yarova - media expert, Alla Fedoryna - coordinator of the NGO "Sumy Press Club", Volodymyr Sadivnychyi - head of the regional organization of the National Union of Journalists of Ukraine.

Volodymyr Sadivnychyi says, "There are two goals in preparing Ukrainian information corners. The first is support for children who were forced to leave Ukraine because of the beginning of the full-scale military invasion of the Russian Federation in Ukraine. The second is the fight against Russian informational propaganda in educational institutions of European countries. The work continues."
