Online education events dedicated to celebrating the European Day of Languages took place at the Department of Language Training for Foreign Citizens of the Faculty FPSC, SumDU.

The assistant of the department, Stanislava Zaitseva, held the educational event named «European bilingualism – equal rights of all languages» with the students of the group MTs.m-837i. During the session, they raised questions about the significance of using different languages, not only English, French, and German, to support language diversity in the official institution of the European Union.

Lecturer Nataliia Pylypenko-Frytsak and associate professor Alina Cherniakova organized a solemn event, «European Day of Language – the holiday that unites countries», in which many foreign students participated. There were members of the club «Descendants of Hippocrates» and students from the groups MTs.m-107 and MTs.m-116.

Syed Mubaashera Irfan congratulated everyone on the holiday on behalf of Indian students and read her own verses.

– In the poem, I wanted to say about the beauty of the Ukrainian language, my love for it, and my confidence that Ukraine will win in the terrible war, – said Syed Mubaashera Irfan.

For the educational event, students prepared a presentation and presented reports about the history and purpose of the holiday about the most common and endangered languages. The decoration of the event became pictures of students Abzal Khan Absan, Kumar Manish, Havisiddappa Karibasamma Gaanashree, Duppala Sai Pritam, and Sain Jatin, who presented their vision of a rich linguistic and cultural diversity of Europe.

Student Shubham Kumar noted that languages depict different cultures and, simultaneously, are the key to understanding these cultures. He emphasized that the holiday not only reminds us that many languages exist but also encourages people from different countries to learn them, inviting cooperation, conversation, and mutual understanding.

Havisiddappa Karibasamma Gaanashree remarked that language diversity is a tool for achieving deep intercultural understanding and the key to rich and unique cultural heritage in every nation.

Although foreign students are in different parts of the world today because of the war in Ukraine, European Day of Languages became the holiday that united in a friendly circle those who are indifferent to the beauty of languages.

The Faculty FPSC SumDU thanks foreign students for their activity in the educational event and wishes them new achievements in language learning!
