On July 21, the last meeting took place as a part of the international virtual academic mobility "Media in a global and European context" between Sumy State University and Johann Gutenberg University (Mainz, Germany). The programme participants were students, postgraduates, and lecturers of the Department of Journalism and Philology from Sumy and the branch of audiovisual arts from Mainz. More than 70 people in total.

Lecturers from Germany were the well-known documentarian Katja Schupp, assistant professor Jessica Kunert, and German mass media personality and author of the book "Instagram Journalism" Selina Bettendorf. From the Ukrainian party, an associate professor of the Department of journalism and philology of SumDU, an expert of the Pylyp Orlyk Institute of Democracy Alla Yarova and a lecturer Raisa Stoian, political scientist Mykola Davydiuk, Radio Svoboda reporter Roman Pahulych. The project coordinator from the German side is a graduate of the Department of Journalism and Philology of SumDU and is currently a lecturer at Johann Gutenberg University Maryna Hrytsai. 

 During the meetings, the participants discussed issues of freedom of the press, alternative forms of journalism, economic aspects of journalism, and trust in the media. Significant attention was paid to the illustration of Russian aggression in Ukraine.

 During the last meeting, Ukrainian and German students and postgraduate students presented joint Instagram projects.

- Cooperation with German colleagues – is a new experience for me. It was interesting to learn how the classes of journalists at a foreign university go on, to compare it with how it happens in our country, - said student-journalist Artem Korol.

- Students, postgraduate students, and lecturers of the Department gained professional experience and advanced the level of intercultural communication, created interesting media products with foreign partners, - noted Tetiana Kovalova, associate professor of the Department of Journalism and Philology.

- This is just the beginning: we are already planning the spring semester of the next academic year and conducting joint scientific research, - summarized Volodymyr Sadivnychyi, head of the Department of Journalism and Philology of SumDU.
