Alla Krasulia, a senior lecturer at the Department of Germanic Philology at the Faculty FPSC of SumDU, a Latvian government scholarship holder for research at Riga Technical University, took part in the programme "We are from Ukraine" on the Latvian National Radio.

Currently, almost 30,000 Ukrainians have found refuge in Latvia. Therefore, the presence of such a powerful Ukrainian community was the impetus for the creation of a Ukrainian-language programme on Latvian radio. And, although the audience of the programme is not very large, this step is a demonstration of respect to our national identity.

Alla Krasulia says that she received an invitation to take part in the programme on a very symbolic date - Embroidery Day, which was celebrated in front of the Latvian National Opera and Ballet on May 19:

- We joined the event and together with Ukrainians in Riga and Latvians who support our country during the war, to bestowed honours to our national spiritual shield - embroidered shirt.

The broadcast of the radio programme "We are from Ukraine" was timed to the International Children's Day, and the topic of conversation was the dreams of Ukrainian children. Alla Krasulia together with her daughter Sofiia told about their dreams and hopes in such difficult times for Ukraine, shared secrets on how to make dreams come true.. Sofiia read her own poem to the radio listeners.

- I am proud that we had the opportunity to present Ukrainian culture, education, civil position and express personal opinion through poetry, metaphorical comparisons and images, - said Alla Krasulia. - We are not military, we do not know how to hold a weapon, but as Maksym Rylskyi said: “A word is like a weapon. Like any weapon, it must be cleaned and cared for." So far from Ukraine, we are each fighting on our own front: on the scientific, educational, poetic, creative and as close as possible to our victory. You can listen to the radio programme here.
