Annually by late spring, namely on the third Saturday of May, the Ukrainian scientific community holds a professional holiday. This year the Science Day falls on May 21st, so the Faculty FPSC of SumDU celebrates it together with the whole country.

Research work is a crucial part of #the_best_faculty_in_the_galaxy. Knowledge is power, underpinning the further country’s development. Therefore even during the full-scale war Ukrainian lecturers, postgraduates and students do not stop their research. We have got a good deal of plans, ideas and achievements.

Completing State certification in the field of research work was of great value in terms of recent results. The Faculty joined the highest qualification group “A” due to scientific activity in the “Humanities and Art” field. Hence we received basic funding for a number of studies.

Another result implies successful implementation of the research topic “Nominative and identification functions of language as a mechanism of human and national development in the aspect of counteracting manipulative influences” (the research supervisor is Volodymyr Sadivnychyi, Doctor of Social Communications, Head of the Department of Journalism and Philology of the Faculty FPSC, SumDU).

In 2022 the research project of basic funding “The phenomenon of social sustainability in the humanities” took place (the research supervisor is Olena Kupenko, Doctor of Pedagogical Sciences, Associate Professor of Psychology, Political Science and Socio-Cultural Technologies). Not a single department of the Faculty FPSC was left out of the project: two PhDs, five candidates of sciences and one student work actively on the research. Furthermore, there’s an article prepared and submitted for publication in the top-rated editions of the Scopus and the Web of Science databases, hard work on the glossary of related to “social sustainability” concepts with its cultural and multilevel analysis.

Moreover, last year we cooperated with the National fund of researches of Ukraine and implemented the scientific project “Specialized system of medical information and personal security in pandemics, crises, other social upheavals: the formation of an effective socio-communicational model”. Among its participants were researchers from the Departments of Journalism and Philology, of Germanic Philology, the PPSST, as well as postgraduates and students.

The implemented scientific projects are worth in total 2.5 million UAH on the Faculty in 2021.

There is a positive momentum in terms of publishing activity: h-index rates and citations of scientific publications in Google Scholar are increasing annually. It shows how relevant and high-level the Faculty’s researches are!

Olena Sushkova congratulates the staff of the Faculty FPSC of SumDU, all fellow scientists of the university and other HEI of Ukraine on their professional holiday. The Dean emphasized, “Let’s develop our motherland’s science together, conquer new heights, build a strong, independent and invincible country!”
