A new tradition is being born at the Faculty FPSC of SumDU: the meeting of the staff for the dean's report on the work of the structural unit for the past year takes place on the last day of Christmas and New Year cycle, namely January 21.
Reporting on the work done in 2021, the dean Olena Sushkova noted the positive tendencies and challenges in the development of the Faculty and spoke about the possibilities and plans for the future.
There is a positive tendency in enrollment growth for the first year of bachelor's degree – by almost 31 percent in two years. The number of foreign first-year enrolled students has increased for the first time in recent years.
Olena Kupenko and Yaroslav Yanenko defended their doctoral dissertations this year. Anna Zinchenko, Vitalii Stepanov, Olena Ishchenko, Inna Levenok became Candidates of Sciences.
In 2021, the educational programme of preparing Doctors of Philosophy in the specialty "Journalism" received "exemplary" accreditation.
Forty-two individual international grants were implemented for the past year, which is one of the best rates at the university. In addition, 32 lecturers improved their skills at the international level.
The results of participation in the All-Ukrainian student scientific papers competition – the best for the Faculty over the past ten years – have become the victory of 2021.
An international virtual mobility programme, attended by 52 students of specialty "Philology", was implemented within the Agreement on Cooperation between Sumy State University and Camarines Sur Polytechnic Colleges of Nabua city, Philippines. Formalized cooperation was carried out with almost thirty foreign legal entities. Speakers Iryna Kobyakova, Nataliia Tatsenko, Olha Sydorenko, Inna Sypchenko, Deputy Head of the Department of Journalism and Philology, and Andriana Kostenko, Associate Professor of Department PPST, highly praised the work of the dean in 2021.
Rector of SumDU Vasyl Karpusha, who was present at the meeting of the staff, noted that the Faculty FPSC of SumDU was successful in almost all areas of work during the year. He stressed that the Faculty constantly demonstrates responsibility and executive discipline. There is a calm atmosphere, coordinated work, and understanding, which in the end give a positive result.
