On April 23rd, Ukrainian psychologists celebrate a professional holiday. Complex and incomprehensible at first sight "science of life", this lifestyle, and even absolute magic, is mastered by students of the faculty FPSC of SumDU. So we could not miss such a day.

The profession of psychologist, although becoming increasingly popular in Ukraine, still remains incomprehensible and seemingly unnecessary to many people. Turning to a psychologist is scary and embarrassing, and some even put psychologists on a par with fortunetellers and psychics. But who is he, a modern psychologist? A person who listens and sometimes asks about the feelings of the client, a magician or a healer of human souls? Lecturers and students majoring in "Psychology" talked about social stereotypes in relation to the profession of psychologist, the culture of seeking specialized help, the importance of "science of the soul" in society.

Paraskoviia Sakhno, a senior lecturer at the Department of Psychology, Political Science and Socio-Cultural Technologies and head of the Psychological Service of SumDU, says that the profession of practicing psychologist in Ukraine is quite new. Representatives of the younger generation are more likely to seek help in solving psychological problems, while older people are accustomed to confide their troubles only to those closest to them and are ashamed to talk to a specialist in the field of the human psyche.

- It is important for a modern person to understand that trust in a psychologist is the first thing you need to cultivate in yourself, - says Paraskoviia Sakhno, - because it is the help of a specialist can give hope in difficult life situations, and sometimes - to save. I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate all colleagues and students majoring in Psychology on the holiday.

Nataliia Teslyk, a senior lecturer and candidate of psychological sciences, spoke about the importance of the profession in her own life:

- Someone expects absolute magic from psychology. For me personally, it is freedom from other people's labels and evaluations, imposition, as well as, of course, responsibility for one's own choice, and also a favorite profession, which is never easy, but always interesting.

And what do those who are just beginning to get acquainted with the subtleties of the "science of the soul" think about the importance of psychology in the life of modern society?

- For me, the profession of a psychologist is not just a job, but a lifestyle, - says student Yevheniia Babaievska. - To receive new information every day and to wonder how I used to live without it is about studying to become a psychologist.

The girl says that in modern society, unfortunately, there is still a stereotype that only patients turn to psychologists. Therefore, it is important to engage in psychological education, to inform the public about the essence of the profession and the importance of mental health. A psychologist is not a doctor, but rather a friend who will help to find a way out of a difficult situation. Sometimes it is better to turn to a specialist to relieve the burden of your own experiences, share the problem and get help.

To be a good psychologist, first of all you need to deal with your own inner experiences, says student Valeriia Ksenzhenko. And learning helps in this.

- Today we live in a very dynamic world, where almost everyone is in constant tension, - says Valeria. - To maintain inner comfort, help is often needed, so people should learn not to be ashamed to turn to psychologists. For me, choosing the profession of a psychologist means being ready to help people unravel their difficult life situations and find a way out. By the way, if a psychologist faced a certain problem in his own life and was able to solve it, then it will be much easier to understand another, and most importantly - easier to help.

The complex but interesting profession of a psychologist requires thorough theoretical and practical training, inner stability, willingness to help and boundless love for people.

#The_best_faculty_in_the_galaxy wishes all those who have chosen the vector of psychology as a life reference point, not to lose inspiration and passion, because you are doing an important and noble work.
