On March 19-20, the Department of Germanic Philology, Faculty FPSC, SumDU held the XI All-Ukrainian students’ scientific conference «Translation Innovations» online.

The conference was attended by around 100 participants from 8 higher education institutions of such cities as: Sumy, Kharkiv, Kyiv, Lutsk, Kropyvnytskyi, Batumi (Georgia). 82 students published their works in the conference proceedings.

The conference was divided into five sections such as: language picture of the world and intercultural communication, discourse linguistics: linguistic features, current issues of applied and cognitive linguistics, translational studios: traditional and innovative approaches and methods, insighting the works of the itinerant thinker Hryhorii Skovoroda in translations.

Professor, the Head of the Department of Germanic Philology Iryna Kobyakova welcomed the participants to the conference. She pointed out:

– Participation in the conference is an important step to science and experience, that will help future interpreters and translators to get a job in the future.

The Dean of the Faculty FPSC Olena Sushkova pointed out that despite the conference is held online, it will not prevent the participants from presenting the results of their research, as they have already done a great deal of work, all that remains is to tell about it.

Alina Serdiuk, a second-year student of the speciality "Philology", shared her impressions of participation in the conference:

– I believe it's a great opportunity to try your hand at scientific research and get a bonus in your own portfolio. The scientific field is a new, challenging, but really interesting field for me personally, which appeals to me because of the possibility of new discoveries.
