Alla Velykodna, a student majoring in Philology at the Faculty FPSC of SumDU, received an academic scholarship from the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine for the first semester of the 2020/2021 academic year.

Alla learned about the award unexpectedly - she received a scholarship and wondered why such a large sum. Then she contacted the dean's office, where they told about the assignment.

 - I was impressed. I knew that my candidacy was submitted for consideration, but I understood that there are many applicants who have better achievements. I am proud that my efforts were not in vain.

In general, Alla is the ideal choice of the Cabinet. Persistent, active and sociable; graduated with a gold medal; she chose her future profession in the 9th grade, when she became interested in deep language learning. I approached studying at the university with great interest and responsibility, I especially liked the profile disciplines. Constantly striving to deepen her knowledge, she joined the collection, updating, systematization and critical analysis of facts, and as a result published several scientific papers. In her sophomore year, she began working as a copywriter, then as an editor in an online publication, and now manages journalism and English language classes at the Center for Aesthetic Education. She says that she really likes working with children, especially since it is wonderful experience. During her studies, she also volunteered to help nursing homes and animal shelters.

The question of how to find time for work and study, she answers with surprisingly common opinion:

- Apparently, like everyone, I came home after classes, did work (thank God, I worked remotely), and after 10 pm I started doing my homework. Sometimes it is difficult to overcome laziness, so be sure to write plans for the day and week. It helps, because it is simply impossible to keep in mind the whole range of tasks, especially in the last year, when during the week you need to submit reports on practice, reviews, presentations ...

And yet Alla has one secret - never in all her years of studying she came to the university with undone homework. Of course, not everything went well, especially if the topic is complex. But the girl believes that lecturers still see where the student wants to study, but cannot understand something, and who is just ignored and did not listen to the topic.

- I always remember the words of one lecturer that, of course, we can use machine translator and complete the task ten times faster, but the benefit is zero. That's why she always tried to translate texts herself, to look up individual words and phrases in dictionaries. This gives space for imagination, which machine translation will never achieve.

Alla finds inspiration and energy in her work: in her free time she draws, reads, especially in English, writes poems. By the way, last year she won a prize in the nomination "Artistic translations from English" at "Alter Ego" competition.

#the_best_faculty_in_the_galaxy is proud of such creative and persistent students. Congratulating Alla and wishing her success in the future, we urge you to believe in yourself and strive to reveal all available talents. Believe - your wishes will come true.
