 On November 17 the faculty FPSC of SumDU held an extended meeting discussing the educational and scientific PhD program of specialty 035 Philology with the stakeholders: employers, graduates of the Department of Germanic Philology, representatives of the academic community.

As the supervisor of the educational and scientific PhD program Doctor of Philology, Associate Prof., the Head of the Foreign Languages Department, Nataliia Tatsenko opened the floor for discussing the educational and scientific program and curriculum.

Nataliia Vitaliivna pointed out that educational and scientific PhD program of specialty 035 Philology was established and tailored to the needs of regional job market. However, the project team of this program was ready to hold discussion and upgrade the training curriculum according to the needs of employers and academic community. During the discussion, the stakeholders suggested a number of proposals for the maximum updating of the program according to modern requirements.

The dean of the Faculty of Foreign and Slavic Philology of Sumy State Pedagogical University named after A.S. Makarenko, Andrii Kovalenko proposed to rename the educational component "Pedagogical practice on professional branch" to "Pedagogical assistant practice".

Graduate of the Department of Germanic Philology, postgraduate student of Zaporizhzhia National University, Vitalii Stepanov proposed to add the discipline "Corpus Linguistics" to the list 2 of the optional disciplines in the curriculum.

Senior lecturer of the Department of Germanic Philology, Iryna Ushchapovska proposed to add the discipline «Multimodal linguistics» to the list 2 of the optional disciplines in the curriculum.

Postgraduate student of the Department of Germanic Philology Liliia Molhamova proposed to add the discipline «Modern philological paradigms: applied aspect» to the list of compulsory educational disciplines of vocational training and to transpose the compulsory discipline «Stylistics and lexicology of the English language» to the list 2 of the optional disciplines in the curriculum.

Prof. Iryna Kobyakova and lecturer of the Department of Germanic Philology Anna Zinchenko supported all the above proposals that will significantly improve the quality of postgraduate students training on the educational and scientific PhD program of specialty 035 Philology.

All proposals were unanimously accepted and added to the updated curriculum.
