On the basis of the Department of Journalism and Philology, Faculty FPSC of SumDU  took part in the first stage of the international school "Media literacy in the regions of Ukraine", that is implemented by nongovernmental organizations such as «Interlink Academy» (Germany, Hamburg), Media Compass (Ukraine, Sumy) and with the financial support of  Germany Embassy in Ukraine.

The main goal of the project is to prepare trainers in media literacy, to improve their knowledge and skills in conducting trainings. The coaches of the school are the journalist, researcher and editor of the Deutsche Welle Academy Eric Albrecht (Germany), the journalist Tetiana Mostipan and the public activist Anton Protsenko.

 - For the second year in a row, we are implementing the project "Media Literacy in the Regions of Ukraine", - says the project manager of Interlink Academy Andrea Kamberhs. - This year, in case of pandemic, we had to change the format: we combine the work of participants online and their personal meetings in classrooms to achieve our educational goals and not violate quarantine requirements. For four days, training participants, including teachers from various settlements of Sumy regions, studied sources of information, fact-checking, learned to detect manipulation and propaganda, developed critical thinking.

 - Frankly speaking, I am very happy to join the project and teach people to navigate into the infospace, - shared his impressions of the work coach Anton Protsenko, - especially at a time when the online has captured almost all spheres of life, the pandemic provoked new waves of manipulation that is why  we see political advertising everywhere. It's like on the road, it's vital to know the rules of the road and evaluate other people's actions so as not to get into trouble. It is also needed to focus on that Tetiana Mostipan is a graduate student in the specialty 061 "Journalism" of SumDU. Working as a coach in such projects is a visual embodiment of the dual practical training of doctors of philosophy, which operates and is practically implemented at the Department of Journalism and Philology, Faculty FPSC of SumDU.

The Faculty FPSC of SumDU continues to develop international cooperation. A lot of interesting projects and trainings are waiting for us.
