At present, one of the specific features of Sumy Region's information map is the country's longest border with the Russian Federation. In addition, there are not enough towers - only four in Shostka, Bilopillia, Sumy and Trostianets, which led to the presence of zones of low information saturation. Equally important aspect is the imbalance between coverage of the television signal for urban and rural population.

During the presentation, the speaker focused on the topics of transition of the radio industry to FM broadcasting, the broadcasting - from analogue to digital, as well as introduced the features of cable and satellite technology.

The benefits of switching from analogue to digital broadcasting are to increase the number of TV channels to 32, free admission to television channels, reduction of imbalance between coverage of television broadcasting for rural and urban population. For further expansion of the network to all territories of the region are planned additional digital transmitters.

Summarizing her report, Larysa Yakubenko noted that there is currently positive dynamics in overcoming existing problems. In particular, it is planned to introduce discounts for radio and cable broadcasters and implement changes to the legislation for temporary licensing broadcasting in the border areas under the accelerated procedure and creation nationwide multiplex, too.
