XI Academic Conference "The First Step into Science" took place at Sumy State University's Congress Center on February 23. The participants were students and senior pupils. In the event also participated #the_best_faculty_in_the_galaxy.

This year our faculty received a record number of applications from participants - over 70, so the Faculty of Foreign Philology and Social Communications was presented in two sections - "F" and "G". Accordingly, the leaders were two participants - a student of the group ZhT-81, Khorosheva Yelyzaveta with a speech "Images of the Presidents of Ukraine: a comparative analysis" – and a student of the group ZhT-91 Ivanchenko Anastasiia with not less than interesting repost "Charismatic leader on the example of the White Brotherhood".

The second year round Khorosheva Yelyzaveta keeps her position at the conference:

- My specialty is with closely connected with the profession of image-maker, - says Yelyzaveta, - so it was interesting to study the image of politicians. In general, I got very cool impressions of the event, because I was excited and happy at the same time. I advice freshmen not to be afraid and to prepare a speech in advance so that it is well to proofread it and not read it from a sheet of paper.

Vadym Yaremenko, the head of Scientific students’ organization at the Faculty FPSC shared his impressions and thoughts about this year's conference:

- It is the first time that I am conducting an event of this level and scale, but the impressions are very positive. Many participants were well prepared and really show competence in their topics, were not afraid of public speaking, behaved like real scientists. Some felt genuine charisma and skills that would be needed in the future for more serious work. It is this “first step” that allows us to lay the foundation that will further help to have a good career in science.

Representatives of other faculties were also interested in topics related to the Philology-Society-Communication section. The student of the group МTs.m-808і Alanannbeh Baha Aldin Nasser, shared his thoughts on the conference and further plans in science:

- It was interesting. I heard other students’ speeches. Especially memorable report on socio-legal aspects of the legalization of soft drugs. Overall, I had a great time. In the future, I also want to do science, research different topics. I extremely want the Ukrainians to know more about the Arab world. The support of their leaders is extremely important for all conference participants. Associate Professor of The Department of Psychology, Political Science, and Socio-Cultural Technologies Volodymyr Semenov shared the secrets of encouragement of students and impressions of this year’s «The First Step into Science»:

- Encouraging students is probably the easiest thing, because I always put five rating points in the regulation for research work and explain that it is really needed. I work personally with every student who submits the thesis, sometimes editing several times. As a result - prize places. Impression? Let us just say so, I was at the conference from the morning until the end. The event seemed to have finished very fast. Young people seemed to be interested, and they saw that science is not easy, but if you work hard, everything will work out. The students also got the experience of the first public speaking, because when they sit in class it is one thing, and when they speak to strangers and answer the questions, it is quite another level. Freshmen, first, I advise you not to be afraid, but make a lot of effort. Science does not approve the accidental things. As Thomas Edison said, "A genius is one percent of inspiration and ninety-nine percent of sweat."

We hope that the "First Step into Science" has become for many students of the Faculty FPSC of SumDU the same impetus that will confidently walk the path of science and make new discoveries. We know exactly that everyone will remember the conference, because it is the "first step" that provides the basis for further successful study and advanced study of the subjects they like.
