The sport events among SumDU lecturers, staff and postgraduate students started with competitions in intellectual sport - chess and checkers. The representatives of the Faculty FPSC of SumDU also took part in the fight for the championship.

The opening of the local Olympic and chess competition took place on February 19th at SumDU sports complex. The FPSC team consisted of the Dean of the Faculty Olena Sushkova, the lecturer of the Foreign Languages Department Serhii Pochatko, and the lecturer of the Department of Journalism and Philology Yaroslav Yanenko.

As a result of a stiff fight, the #the_best_faculty_in_the_galaxy took the second place.

- I really enjoyed the competition, - shares her impressions Olena Sushkova, - the team we have is very cool.  I used to attend a chess club at school, but I have not played for over 20 years. Therefore I was pleased to participate. Sometimes it was difficult, but still interesting.

The checkers competitions took place on February the 20th. The Faculty FPSC was represented by the head of the Research Center of Regional Security of SumDU Mykola Nazarov and the senior department assistant of the Faculty FPSC Nataliia Martynenko who also won the 5th place.

- It is not the first year I take part in checkers competitions, - says Nataliia Martynenko. - Before the game you feel excitement, during the game - tension, because you need to calculate each step, both your own and your opponent’s. But at the finale, after the competition is over, you are overwhelmed by unforgettable emotions - you are happy, emotionally charged and satisfied. Great game, strong players, friendly atmosphere.

We are looking forward to the next competitions and believe in the victory of the #the_best_faculty_in_the_galaxy!
