History of Ukraine, lost in gray antiquity, has revealed itself in the darkness of time on the pages of “The Ros’ people, or the Eve of Ukraine”, the book written by Ivan Mozghovyi, PHD in Philosophy and the head of the department of Philosophy at Faculty of Foreign Philology and Social Communications at Sumy State University.

The presentation of the book took place in Taras Shevchenko Sumy municipal central library on February 10th. Representatives of the authority, public organizations, scientists, as well as the residents of the city who are interested in the history of our country gathered there. The initiatives of the meeting were association «Prosvita» and the Congress of Ukrainian intellectual society at Sumy oblast.

Informative speech of the book author revealed an unconventional view on the ancient civilization in Ukraine during the first 70 centuries of its history, described in the book.

“...unprejudiced look at historical sources gives the reason to proclaim that the Ukrainian ethnic group is one of the oldest on the planet, and its impact on other cultures is extremely productive. Therefore, the urgent task of researchers today is to debunk pseudoscientific theses, objectively presenting the particular history, which should also reflect the names of those who represented Ukraine from its earliest times in the immense space.”

Each thesis of the researcher is based on the analysis of numerous documents and factual materials; written, archaeological, linguistic, mythological and other data are given. That is why the book is intended for scholars, students of all specialties and forms of study, anyone interested in the past of their native land.

A very interesting fact that the presentation of the new book coincided with another significant event - the author's birthday, so he also received greetings. The head of Information and Communication Department of Sumy Regional State Administration Serhii Nadiarnyi and the director of Communication and Information Policy of Sumy City Council Antonina Kokhan expressed their gratitude and awarded Ivan Mozghovyi for the significant contribution to scientific and public activity.

Scientific activity is one of the priority areas of work of the Faculty of Foreign Philology and Social Communications of SumDU. Numerous works and acknowledgments of foreign colleagues confirm that this component of the work of the faculty is implemented properly. But students who daily get new knowledge from experienced lecturers know that science can be not only useful but even interesting.
