On November 17th, on International Students' Day, at Sumy State University, an award ceremony took place to recognize the winners of the "Best Student of SumDU-2023" competition. Two representatives from the Faculty FPSC achieved triumphs in the categories.
Zakhar Yuvko, a journalism student, won the nomination for "Scientific Activity. International Aspect", and philology student Valentyna Rebenok won the nomination for "Academic Activity. Academic mobility".
This year, Zakhar actively participated in scientific conferences and olympiads. He actively participated in educational projects initiated by the Department of Journalism and Philology, acquiring informal education in his field. He attended training sessions on media literacy and cybersecurity. As a part of a team representing the department, he collaborated to create a project within a data journalism training program.
– This is just a pleasant acknowledgment of the path I have walked. I never thought that my activities would be recognized at such a level. I took the initiative and worked on what interested me alongside excellent teachers and mentors. I hope there will be even more of these achievements in the future because the university provides enough opportunities to realize oneself," Zakhar said.
Valentyna has received a grant for the second time to study abroad through the Erasmus academic mobility program. Currently, she is an exchange student at Riga Technical University.
− I deeply miss my beloved SumDU, and I am very sorry that most of my classmates do not have the opportunity to experience real student life. We studied offline for only one month at the university, and already in the third year...But I hope that SumDU will adapt and take more initiatives so that students can feel real learning and engagement in university life, − said Valentyna.
