On September 21st, first-year students of the Faculty FPSC took part in an online meeting, "Opportunities for academic mobility at SumDU", organized by the International Affairs Department. In total, more than 80 listeners participated in the event.

During the meeting, representatives of the IAD informed participants about where to look for opportunities to participate in academic mobility programmes and about things you need to prepare for internship, training, and practice abroad. In particular, they gave a list of necessary papers, described the structure of a motivation letter, and gave some tips on how to write it and how to prepare Europass CV.

The introduction to the "Global Undergraduate Exchange Program", which is currently relevant for first- and second-year students, was no less exciting and valuable for event participants.

Alla KRASULIA, Vice Dean of Faculty FPSC for International Relations, who was present at the meeting, noted that academic mobility, which includes the opportunity for students to study or conduct research at universities abroad, is essential for many reasons. Firstly, it is a broadening of horizons. Students get acquainted with different cultures, languages, traditions, and approaches to learning. It broadens their worldview and increases their level of sociocultural competence, develops international communication skills, and the ability to work in various cultural environments. Enrichment of the learning experience is no less critical – students have the opportunity to study new subjects that will allow them to get more knowledge and skills in their sphere. Definitely, significant improvement in language skills occurs during participating in academic mobility programmes that will be useful in future careers. International experience and self-development – academic mobility promotes the personal development of students, strengthening their independence, self-discipline, and self-confidence. Students with experience studying or conducting research abroad have an advantage in the labor market because employers appreciate international experience and openness to new ideas.

– On behalf of the faculty FPSC, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to the IAD for organizing and holding the "Opportunities for academic mobility at SumDU" event for first-year students. The initiative helped students better understand the prospects open by participating in academic mobility programmes. First-year students got essential tips and practical recommendations, which will promote their successful participation in exchange programmes and internships, – noted Alla Krasulia.

– The meeting was structured and informative. I was impressed by the opportunity to get answers to questions, additional tips, and ideas. All the details of the programme and explanations were understandable, – Kateryna SOTNIKOVA, a student of specialty "Philology", commented on the event.

Academic mobility is an essential element of education, promoting students' development and preparing them for international cooperation and global challenges. The Faculty FPSC, SumDU, pays considerable attention to developing this activity area. During the event, participants got valuable information and motivation to try themselves in academic mobility programs. The main thing is not to be afraid but confidently move towards your dream!
