Commonly, the first-year students (groups PR-31, PR-32, ZhT-31) of the Faculty FPSC of SumDU got acquainted with the Sumy Regional Universal Academic Library on the eve of the All-Ukrainian Library Day. The excursion was supported by Professor of the Department of Journalism and Philology Zhylenko Iryna. The curator of the ZhT-31 group, assistant Olena Ishchenko, also joined the event.

Freshmen found out the library's story and had the opportunity to witness its modernity, as nowadays, it's not merely a building that houses books but rather a highly modern information center. The students strolled through the splendid corridor, admiring the interior decor. They visited the foreign literature and local history departments and the reading room, where they learned about rare editions and the latest books. They also acquired skills in using the catalog and familiarized themselves with methods of searching for information in both printed and electronic publications.

The students are thrilled with the excursion, as evidenced by a series of reviews:

Varvara Burmistrova, PR-31: I absolutely adored our visit to the Sumy Regional Academic Library because it was fascinating and informative. Moreover, it brought a lot of pleasant emotions. I was especially impressed by the extensive collection of literature in multiple languages for various levels of study, as well as the opportunity to see some of the oldest books in the library's collection.

Yuliia Shepil, PR-31: The stories about the library's extensive book collection, the history of its creation, and the legends surrounding this book depository particularly amazed me. Also, I was pleasantly astonished by the countless books that could be of interest to anyone.

Milena Dudchenko, PR-31: Frankly speaking, I've been to one small library only a few times in my entire life, so when I visited the regional library, I was overwhelmed and caught myself wondering why I hadn't come here before.

Yelyzaveta Kozlova PR-31: I couldn't even imagine that our city has so many rare books preserved! Though this is my first visit here, I'm confident it won't be the last.

Polina Kuchmiieva PR-31: The idea of communicating with a volunteer from the USA intrigued me, and if the opportunity arises, I'd gladly join the Speaking Club.

Oleksandra Boyko PR-32: I really enjoyed it! It was fascinating to learn more about books and see exclusive editions. The Speaking Club and board game evenings blew me away. Thank you!

Yuliia Kolodych, ZhT-31: I changed my attitude about the library because I realized it's not just a place with old books but a natural gateway to a world of possibilities. The local history section, particularly, left a lasting impression on me. I would call it a "haven for journalists." I'm confident that I'll return to the library many more times to either work or spend quality leisure time.

Olena Lobanova ZhT-31: I discovered a lot of new information when I visited the regional library. I appreciated the library staff who gave us a wonderful excursion.

Evheniia Halahan, ZhT-31: I was struck by the library's grandeur and opulence: the stunning exterior, numerous specialized sections, each with its unique appeal, and an extensive collection of materials where one can find something interesting for themselves. The staff is pleasant to listen to because they are friendly and responsive. The fervour with which they describe the library shines through in their deep passion for their work and pride in this beautiful place. This library is where you can feel a pleasant atmosphere, develop yourself, and be confident that something will be for the soul.

Iryna Trachuk, ZhT-31: The library staff are genuinely passionate about their work and are open to collaboration to advance our native Sumy region. The library's resources are a true treasure for those who seek to deepen their knowledge and broaden their horizons. This visit will mark the beginning of numerous literary journeys and explorations.

Remember that valuable information treasures are always nearby, waiting for those who seek to discover them. Especially for those who have chosen education as their path.
