Lecturers of the Department of Journalism and Philology of the Faculty FPSC, SumDU, organised Freshers' Day for new students - a live introduction to the department and their chosen speciality. Traditionally, the event was held on 8 September, the International Day of Solidarity of Journalists.
The Head of the Department, Volodymyr Sadivnychyi, opened the meeting and wished the students success, inspiration, and a speedy start to their full-time studies. Lecturers Alla Fedoryna, Inna Sypchenko, Olena Ishchenko, Iryna Zhylenko, and Maryna Sadivnycha joined in the greetings.
An essential part of the celebration was the arrival of distinguished guests - the editors-in-chief of the Vorskla newspaper from Velykа Pysarivka by Oleksii Pasiuha and the Peremoha newspaper from Krasnopillia by Oleksandr Motsnyi. Experienced media workers from the border areas of Sumy region did not stop their work even at the beginning of the full-scale invasion, volunteered and maintained information defence, and deservedly received the Cross for Public Merit. They shared their experience with the students.
The future media professionals listened to exciting stories and participated in discussions on various aspects of their chosen profession and journalism in times of war.
At the end of the event, the first-year students traditionally wrote letters to themselves in the future - four years of study will pass very quickly, and with their diplomas in hand, they will read the words written at the very beginning of their journalistic career.
