On August 30th, at the Faculty FPSC, SumDU, organizational meetings for first-year students took place — a traditional event for introducing new students to the #the_best_faculty_in_the_galaxy.
Dean Olena Sushkova briefed future translators, journalists, teachers, psychologists, and social workers on the organization of work at the faculty in the new academic year, introduced the faculty's lecturers and staff present at the event, explained whom to approach for various questions and also introduced the first-year students to their group mentors.
- This is a crucial period in your life right now. Behind you is a vibrant and emotional summer when you chose your future specialty and university for your studies. We thank you for choosing the specialties of the Faculty of FPSC, SumDU, and wish you to become true professionals in your chosen field, - emphasized Olena Sushkova.
Representatives of the departments provided first-year students with information about the specialties taught at the faculty, highlighting the characteristics of each profession, prospects for development, and employment opportunities.
Organizational matters and peculiarities of studying were also discussed by the first vice dean, Olena Bondarenko. She emphasized the need to create personal accounts in the university system and noted that, among other information, students can already check their schedules in their personal accounts.
- We must remember that education is something we acquire; no one will bring it to us or give it as a gift. Studying is a process. I wish you to keep the enthusiasm with which you entered the university and maintain the desire to learn throughout all four years, - said Olena Bondarenko.
During the organizational meetings, discussions were not limited to academic matters. Vices of the dean of the Faculty FPSC, Maryna Nabok, Alla Krasulia and Anna Zinchenko, introduced attendees to the faculty's scientific activities, international initiatives, and extracurricular activities.
Student self-government is an important part of the faculty's activities. Student dean of the faculty, Maryna Tkachenko, was present at the organizational meetings and encouraged first-year students to subscribe to the faculty's and student self-government's social media accounts to stay updated on important information. She also invited them to participate in the events organized by these groups.
