Alla Yarova, Associate Professor of the Department of Journalism and Philology of the Faculty FPSC, SumDU, participated in the 60th International Conference “Automation of Communication and Automated Media: Challenges and Media Research”. The scientific forum was held in Bremen (Germany) on May 18-20.

The conference contained several discussion panels, including “Research Software for Measuring Media Consumption”, “Issues of Algorithmic/Automated Media Communication Research”, “Journalism and its Limits”, “From Human-Machine Interaction to Communicative Artificial Intelligence”. The special panel, organized in cooperation with Volkswagen Foundation, presented Ukrainian research on problems of disinformation, in particular Russian disinformation about the war in Ukraine, focused on European and world space.

Alla Yarova, representing SumDU and Stuttgart Media University, prepared a report on “Russian disinformation in Germany: topics, elements, narrative design”. The researcher summarises: “There are five types of Telegram channels that spread Russian disinformation or pro-Russian propaganda in Germany. Some were specially created after the full-scale Russian invasion, others after banning the propaganda media outlets “russia today” and “sputnik”. Some channels have German geolocation and Russian-language content, while others have Russian geolocation and German-language content. There are German-language channels based in Germany. Together they form a single network intended to spread disinformation about the war in Ukraine and manipulate public opinion in Germany”.

Representatives of the Faculty FPSC, SumDU, continue their scientific work at the international level.
