On March 15, the #the_best_faculty_in_the_galaxy celebrates its 23rd birthday! The past year was not easy for all of us, and the Faculty is no exception... But despite all the circumstances, our Faculty FPSC lived this year actively, creatively, and productively - and today, we have something to string together pleasant memories.
Spring... Even in the most challenging months of the year, the Faculty FPSC did not stop its activity. Students and employees learned to work with sensitive topics under stressful conditions and discussed the work of the psychological service of the university during wartime. Students of the "Social Work" specialty organized a volunteer movement to help everyone in need during the war.
In May, the festival of school media and young journalists of Sumy region, "Media world leads to the world," began.
Summer. In June, the photo exhibition "War through a student lens" was held in the Congress Center of Sumy State University. Students' lenses captured both the problematic and disturbing realities of the war and moments full of optimism and faith in life.
In July, three new specialties were opened at the Faculty FPSC. On the master's degree - "Organizational Psychology" and "Political Science." At the bachelor's level - "Secondary education," educational programme "English and German languages and literatures."
The Faculty FPSC, the Sumy regional organization of the National Union of Journalists, and the public organization "Sumy Press Club" founded the "Greetings from Ukraine" project. The goal is to support children forced to go abroad due to the beginning of the full-scale military invasion of the Russian Federation in Ukraine.
Scientists of the Faculty will implement two projects of the "Jean Monnet" direction of the EU Erasmus+ program. The ESDbrandEU project "Fostering EU practices of education for sustainable development through the brand language: interdisciplinary studies" and EUROVALID: "European values of intercultural dialogue in the field of education: interdisciplinary and inclusive approaches.
Shlepnova-Krakhmatova, who studied journalism and translation at Sumy State University in the early 2000s, and now works as a correspondent for "Suspilne Sumy."
Autumn - 214 students are enrolled in the Faculty specialty at all training levels.
For the first time, Sumy State University held a defense of a dissertation for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in specialty 061, "Journalism."
Engagement within the framework of the "Virtual teacher" programme of the College of New Jersey professor Stuart Carroll. A foreign specialist is currently teaching English to first-year students.
Scientific and pedagogical workers were awarded the academic titles of professor (Iryna Zhylenko, Andriana Kostenko, Volodymyr Sadivnychyi) and associate professor (Mykola Nazarov).
Winter. The traditional competition review of amateur artistic performance among first-year students, "Golden Integral," was held where our Faculty won the most nominations!
Summarizing the calendar year's results, 2022 continued in January: Faculty FPSC representatives won prizes in five nominations of the "Pedagogical Innovations of SumDU" competition, and eight lecturers won the "Best Teacher in the Eyes of Students" competition. Dean Olena Sushkova reported on the work of the Faculty in 2022.
At the beginning of February, the Department of Psychology, Political Science, and Sociocultural Technologies of the Faculty FPSC traditionally awarded symbolic "palms" to active and caring participants of socially beneficial activities in their native city of Sumy during the "Social OSCAR of SumDU - 2022" award ceremony.
Four more dissertation defenses for the Doctor of Philosophy degree in specialty 061 "Journalism" occurred at the Faculty.
Therefore, despite all the difficulties, the 23rd year of the life of the Faculty FPSC of SumDU was marked by positive activity, new achievements, and victories. And the #the_best_faculty_in_the_galaxy goes into the future with sincere optimism, bright dreams, and faith in a quick victory!
