The student of the Faculty FPSC Artem Korol (specialty “Journalism”) took part in the three-day training “Freedom of Speech in Times of War: What a Journalist Needs to Know When Performing His Professional Duties”. The training took place in Vinnytsia on February 16-18, organized by Human Rights Platform NGO.

Participants had the opportunity to attend several separate discussions. The attorneys and media lawyers Yevhen Vorobiov and Mykola Hrynyshak spoke about criminal liability for circulating prohibited information under martial law and explained how to protect journalists’ rights during the war.

Olha Vdovemko, attorney-at-law, media lawyer and specialist in access to public information, clarified the specifics of the Law of Ukraine “On Access to Public Information”.

Another speaker was Oleksandr Burmahin, a member of the National Council of Television and Radio Broadcasting and a member of the working group on drafting the law “On Media”. He described the structure, definition, scope, and stages of entry into force of the Law of Ukraine “On Media”.

Artem Korol says that he has received a lot of practical pieces of advice during the training, which will be definitely helpful for his career:

– All of the speakers are experts in the subjects they discuss. They are actively working, so their advice is relevant and practically proven. For me, it is essential to analyze the experience of my colleagues to learn valuable knowledge and develop my skills.
