Trainings for lecturers, public activists and young journalists called "Media literacy in the regions of Ukraine" were carried out at the Department of Journalism and Philology of the Faculty of FPSC of SumDU.  The training was supported by Interlink Academy (Germany, Hamburg) and a non-governmental organization MediaCompas (Sumy).

The project consisted of three stages - full-time and part-time forms of training.

At the first stage, participants gained basic knowledge of media literacy and also mastered some of the methodological aspects of training sessions. The second stage included the implementation of the acquired knowledge – participants themselves conducted trainings in their own communities. The last one is the summing up, discussion of the gained experience and the impressions of the training.

During the work, there the methodology of presenting media literacy topics was studied and special attention was paid to the role of media trainer. In addition, the peculiarities of the journalist's work were discussed, the media materials regarding the use of hate speech and adherence to journalistic standards were analyzed, as well as identified the features of coverage of socially sensitive topics.
