For the third year in a row, at the initiative of the Department of Psychology, Political Science and Socio-Cultural Technologies of the Faculty FPSC the ceremony of awarding the "Social Oscar" is held at Sumy State University. This year's festivities were held on November 26 in the University Mirror Hall.
The motto of the competition is in line with the motto of the organizing department: “Hear. Support. And say YES!” The head of the organizing committee of the competition Nina Svitailo thanked all participants for their initiatives in the work and active cooperation with the department:
- Such cooperation is important for our students. This contributes to their understanding of the situation and changes in the society. We are looking for innovations, which will then become the point of growth for possible new projects, positive changes.
It was extremely difficult to award the winners in the nominations. Vice-rector for scientific work Оleksandr Brizhatyi, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Foreign Philology and Social Communications Оlena Medvid, Head of the Training Department of Practice and Integration Relations with Customers of Human Resources Aliona Yevdokimova, as well as the head of the organization «Sumy Region Intelligence» Valentyna Borovyk greeted the guests of the ceremony on behalf of SumDU.
In the nomination “Social innovations in public organizations activity”, Sumy regional organization of the Red Cross Society was recognized as the winner for the project on rendering the first aid. Socially Responsible Business Award went to Manufactory Shopping Center for creating an open space for socializing and supporting social projects. OSCAR for Socially Oriented Media Initiatives acquired the STS channel in conjunction with the media platform Spetskor for the talk show "The Conscious" with Anna Valevska. In the category "Social work in the OTG" the award was received by Khotyn settlement united territorial community for social initiatives in support of single elderly people (establishment of a hospice).
Active students, who are also successful in implementing social projects, have also received honors. Bohdan Kostiuk, Diana Tarasenko and Anna Perepelytsia won the special award and the "Best team of the department" transitional cup for the successful realization of the large-scale project "The State Creator". For combining successful training with work by vocation, were awarded students of the specialty "Social Work", who this year began active professional practice. The Department of Social Protection of Sumy Regional State Administration awarded students of SumDU with Certificates for their active volunteering work.
The festive atmosphere of the ceremony was supported by creatively gifted students who represented the best faculty in the galaxy: an ensemble with the song “Mary, did you know?”, а dance troupe “Havin’ funk” and student Dmitro Tokarenko, who performed the famous tune “Zombie” of the rock band “The Cranberries”.
