On April 25, at the Faculty FPSC SumDU, the XI All-Ukrainian Scientific Conference of Students, Postgraduates, and Teachers "Social and Humanitarian Aspects of Modern Society Development" was held. Students, undergraduates, postgraduates, and teachers of Sumy State University and guests from other higher education institutions represented the reports.

Foreign students from Africa also prepared reports. In particular, student Idrisi's report related to a comparative study of life values and ideals in Ukraine and Western Europe. She emphasized the traditions that play an essential role in preserving the spiritual values of each nation.

Students of the Department of Psychology, Political Science, and Socio-Cultural Technologies Iryna Kubyshko and Anastasiia Karpuk also made exciting presentations. Their research is related to the issues of maladaptive daydreaming in students and gender equality. Students of other specialties also presented the results of their research. For instance, Victoriia Vnuchkova, a student majoring in Philology, traced the etymology of foreign language phraseological units.  Using examples of English-language texts, the speaker showed how phraseological units are primarily related to a particular nation, its character, and its perception of the surrounding reality. Since foreign students also attended the conference, this issue expands the range of further linguistic studies in intercultural communication. It provides a qualitative approach to analyzing the language of works by peoples of the world.

The reports of the departments' teachers aroused scientific interest. In particular, Svitlana Baranova, Associate Professor and Head of the Department of Germanic Philology, in her report Theoretical and Contrastive Grammar in the Field of Philology, emphasised the peculiarities of the variability of the English language not only in the lexical fund but also in the grammatical paradigm. Liudmyla Hnapovska, Associate Professor of the Department of Foreign Languages and Linguistics, in her report Proper Names: A View of History and Current Prospects, focused on proper names that reflect the cultural and spiritual values of the people, which aroused great interest among the conference participants. The presentations of other conference participants were also engaging.

We hope that for our speakers, participation in the conference organised by the Faculty FPSC of SumDU is an opportunity to learn new things about topical issues of history, culture, philology, philosophy, psychology, social communications, political science, as well as security issues at the regional and national levels.
