November 17 is International Students’ Day, and #the_best_faculty_in_the_galaxy congratulates all higher education students on this holiday. Student years are one of the best periods in life. This is the time not only of lectures and exams but also of vivid moments. Teachers, graduates, and students of the Faculty FPSC of SumDU shared their memories of different student years with us.

Interesting facts about the student life of the faculty were provided by one of the brightest representatives of modern studentship, master’s degree student Anatolii SERDIUK:

–  It goes without saying that there is a dedication to students. It’s like a festival of student life: lots of people, music and other entertainment. Now it’s conducted in a closed faculty mode - only FPSC and only hardcore. There’s also dedication to the integralers, when you, as a whole group of “Golden Integral” participants, gather outside the city after or before the competition and have a good time.

Translator Yuliia YURKO, who graduated in 2015, spoke about the student events she remembered most: dedication to students, “Golden Integral,” and “Stolovka-party” every month. The university has conserved its traditions for many years – yearly, students pass dedication and show their talents at the “Golden Integral.” We hope that the current generation of stars of #the_best_faculty_in_the_galaxy will have time to “hang out” in the canteen and share their impressions to future generations.

Polina MALIUK, a graduate of the Department of Journalism and Philology in 2018, fondly remembered her student life:

– Studying in different countries, I can say with great confidence that I haven’t seen such a level of self-organization of student activity anywhere. We had our internal traditions: the evenings with a guitar, Aunt Ira’s buffet, a canteen every Thursday, “Mini-integral”, dedication – I kept all this and millions of insides forever.

Teachers also have their own memories of the Student’s Day, as well as student life at the Faculty FPSC.

Associate Professor of the Department of Journalism and Philology Tetiana KOVALOVA talked about the old tradition of “shchedruvannia” when students dressed up and went to the teachers. Although this custom existed ten years ago, Tetiana Viktorivna still remembers it delightfully.

Associate Professor Inna SYPCHENKO warmly remembered a surprise from the students on Journalist’s Day – the entire department gathered in the assembly hall, sincere congratulations, jokes and the souvenir whistle of Volodymyr SADIVNYCHYI, which he kept for a long time.

Some teachers at the Faculty FPSC were once students of the same faculty. Daria DANILOVA, the professor at the Department of Psychology, Political Science and Sociocultural Technologies, remembers her student years well:

– To be honest, probably the whole first year, I didn’t understand why they said student years were the brightest period of life. Yes, I liked to study, and even though I was never an excellent student at school, it was very easy to graduate from university with an award because I liked it. There were even moments when it was necessary to miss sessions due to unavoidable circumstances, and I was so sorry that I wouldn’t be able to be on those sessions... But the closer I got to the end of my student life, the more I began to understand that phrase about “the brightest period of life”. Of course, maybe not “the best” because life still goes on, but it (the period of student life) was very vivid and intense. I admired myself for what I managed to do: to study interestingly, take part in the life of student self-administration (even become a student dean), write scientific articles, organize events at the university, and coordinate projects at the regional level... So, when I remember my student years at SumDU – warm memories always arise because this is a university that not only gave me knowledge in my field but also taught me to be goal-oriented, not to be afraid, to find compromises and consensuses, to work in a team, to see something unique in people and to stand up for what important is.

So, we wish our students to be active and creative not only in educational but also in extracurricular activities. May your fruitful work lead to great success, and the university community will become not only an educational environment but also a circle of close friends. Do not miss the chance to live your student years brightly! To new achievements and joyful moments on the educational path with #the_best_faculty_in_the_galaxy!
