The Department of Psychology, Political Science, and Socio-Cultural Technologies of the Faculty FPSC, SumDU, in cooperation with the executive partner of the International Organization for Migration (IOM), the Centre for Public Initiatives "Intellect of Sumy Region," organised training for psychologists and specialists from social institutions.
The events aim to deepen the skills of providing inclusive psychosocial support in crisis conditions. The project participants also include students of psychology and social work.
During the training, which took place at SumDU on January 22, the programme's trainer Mariana Marinez discussed the following issues with the participants: How to organise barrier-free psychological and social services for people with disabilities in a time of war? What are the international and humanitarian standards for providing psychosocial support to different groups of people? What are the work methods, and what should psychologists and social work professionals know to integrate inclusive methods in their work?
The project is being implemented with the support of the Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office in six communities in Sumy Oblast. It aims to build an expert network to provide social and psychological support to the population effectively. The project activities are designed to last for three months and provide assistance to more than nine thousand residents of the region.
