Areas of research performed at the Faculty of Foreign Philology and Social Communications:

• human and cultural factors of transformational processes in society;
• structural and semantic, functional and pragmatic peculiarities of different target and style texts;
• linguosynergetic and linguocognitive aspects of language structure and system;
• basic principles and methodological tools for providing development general and professionally directed competencies and intellectual abilities in the process of foreign languages studying;
• creation of national informational space of Ukraine from soviet mass media system to democratic model.

Research work is carried out within state budget researches, international grant projects, contract-based researches and office hours of lecturers. General financing of three research themes is over 1 million hryvnas.

In five-year term researches of the faculty have fulfilled about 90 contract-based researches and grant projects with more than 2.5 million hryvnas financing. In five-year term researches of the faculty have published about 70 monographs and chapters in collective monographs both in Ukraine and abroad, released over 700 research publications in subject-oriented journals in Ukraine and over 250 publications abroad. Annually the faculty organizes 6-7 scientific conferences of All-Ukrainian and International level.

In cooperation with NATO works Research Center of Regional Security, which provides research, analytical and information work aimed to promote priorities of human aspects of regional security.
