On November 14, at the PennTESOL Conference in Philadelphia (USA), a book titled "Voices of Courage and Vulnerability: Teaching English in a Society at War (Ukraine 2022–2023)" was presented. Among the contributors to the publication is an Associate Professor of the Department of Foreign Languages and Linguodidactics at the FPSC Faculty of SumDU, Iryna LIASHENKO.

The book was published by Sunshine TESOL Press and is dedicated to English language teachers in Ukraine and those teaching English to Ukrainians from abroad during the war.

The scholar from the Faculty FPSC, in collaboration with Associate Professor of Education Methodology at New Jersey College, Stewart Carroll, created the chapter titled "In the Eye of the Storm: Collaboration in Teaching During Wartime," which is included in Section III "Resilient Pedagogy and Collaboration: Providing Quality Education Despite the Hardship of War."

The book explores how English language teachers coped, adapted, and continued to work during the full-scale invasion. Each chapter reflects the authors' thoughts, perspectives, and a balanced analysis of how Russia's invasion impacted their work as educators and their students.

According to Iryna Liashenko, this book will be of particular interest to educators, administrators working in the field of TESOL, and members of the Ukrainian diaspora eager to maintain connections with their compatriots at home.

Each section of the book is carefully framed by academic overviews of the topics discussed:

Part I: The Past, Present, and Unyielding Spirit of Ukraine

Part II: Adapting and Finding Meaning in Teaching and Learning Amid Extraordinary Challenges

Part III: Resilient Pedagogy and Collaboration: Delivering Quality Education Despite the Devastation of War

Part IV: Trauma-Informed Teaching and Learning

Part V: Teaching for Ukraine: Virtual Educators as a Source of Strength and Empowerment During Difficult Times

Part VI: Concludes the volume with an epilogue to readers from the leadership of TESOL Ukraine.

Work on the book lasted nearly two years, and the publisher is now pleased to announce its release. It is available for purchase on the website: https://sunshinestatetesol.wildapricot.org/page-1075379.
