On April 13, professors of the Department of Foreign Languages and Linguodidactics and Germanic Philology of the Faculty FPSC of SumDU participated in collaborative training with Canadian and Ukrainian colleagues. The event occurred as part of a professional development course from the American professor of the College of New Jersey, Stuart Carroll.
In addition to representatives of SumDU, the event was attended by Canadian teachers who teach at an international school in South Korea and English teachers from Ukrainian schools. The organizer was the Department of Foreign Languages and Linguodidactics of SumDU.
Respected South Korean educator Nathan Smith led the session. It evolved into a conversation club that promoted intercultural exchange and professional development opportunities. The main topic of the training was "Modern Children". Participants delved into the discussion about the unique characteristics of Generation Z students, identified effective learning strategies, and explored the similarities in students' attitudes to learning and humor in different cultural contexts.
The unique format of the session provided Ukrainian teachers with a platform to explore intercultural perspectives and improve their teaching practices. This emphasized the desire of the Department of Foreign Languages and Linguodidactics to support global connections and promote professional growth among the EFL teaching community.
