All-Ukrainian Network of Centres for Gender Education


The network was founded in 2012 on the initiative of the Kharkiv Regional Gender Resource Centre in partnership with the representative office of the Friedrich Ebert Foundation in Ukraine. Taking into account the learned experience of gender centres, gender education centres, and gender studies departments of universities, created with the assistance of the EU-UNDP for Equal Opportunities and Women's Rights in Ukraine from 2007 to 2011. In June 2014, during the scientific and practical seminar "Gender Audit of Higher Education Institutions and Unification of CSO Activities", the CSO network got a new name - the All-Ukrainian Network of Gender Education Centres (UNGEC).


The purpose of the Network's activities:

  • unifying the efforts of gender scientists and practitioners to ensure the sustainable implementation of the principles of gender equality in education under international obligations and regulatory documents in force in Ukraine;
  • determination of standard directions and tasks of the activities of the CSO (GO) of the higher education institution;
  • exchange of experience, developments, and methods;
  • organizational and expert support in the establishment of existing and assistance in the creation of new CSOs.

Currently, the Network includes 30 centres of gender education at universities in Dnipro, Donetsk, Zhytomyr, Zaporizhzhia, Kyiv, Kryvyi Rih, Lutsk, Mariupol, Nizhyn, Sumy, Ternopil, Kharkiv, Cherkasy, and Uzhhorod.

Since 2015, the gender resource centre of Sumy State University has been the coordinator of the All-Ukrainian network of gender education centres of higher education institutions.
